el Willyโ, Happy Spanish Restaurant emerged in January 2008 in a 1928 colonial house in the heart of the former French concession in Shanghai. A creation of chef Willy Trullaฬs Moreno, Barcelona (Spain), โel Willyโ is a contemporary Spanish restaurant. After 4 years in the French Concession the opportunity came to occupy a spot in a historical 1906 building in Shanghaiโs Landmark โthe Bundโ. And in 2021 a smaller version โel Willy Kitchenโ opens in Bangkok with a more intimate format.
โel Willyโ cuisine focuses on Spanish traditional, contemporary tapas & rice with a fun twist. We call it โSexy Tapas Cuisineโ. The menu follows the Chinese Yin Yang structure of a meal, but with Spanish characteristics. Our โSexy Tapas Cuisineโ is fun and creative, despite its innovation is based on solid Spanish traditions. Many of our elaborations come in โtwo fingers one biteโ style, where all the flavors are combined and enjoyed in a single bite leaving a WOW experience.
Located on the historic Bund strip, walking in to โel Willyโ gives you the chills of excitement. The restaurant is overlooking the amazing skyline of Shanghai which gives an almost electric energy. Style is casual & fun, wooden tables without table cloth and looking Sexy!
In Bangkok โel Willy Kitchenโ is the first iteration of โel Willyโ out of China. This new concept is Chef Willyโs more personal project to date. The open kitchen with surrounding bar seats creates a very playful atmosphere where Willy is at the center of the stage.
