el Willy”, Happy Spanish Restaurant emerged in January 2008 in a 1928 colonial house in the heart of the former French concession in Shanghai. A creation of chef Willy Trullàs Moreno, Barcelona (Spain), “el Willy” is a contemporary Spanish restaurant. After 4 years in the French Concession the opportunity came to occupy a spot in a historical 1906 building in Shanghai’s Landmark “the Bund”. And in 2021 a smaller version “el Willy Kitchen” opens in Bangkok with a more intimate format.
“el Willy” cuisine focuses on Spanish traditional, contemporary tapas & rice with a fun twist. We call it “Sexy Tapas Cuisine”. The menu follows the Chinese Yin Yang structure of a meal, but with Spanish characteristics. Our “Sexy Tapas Cuisine” is fun and creative, despite its innovation is based on solid Spanish traditions. Many of our elaborations come in “two fingers one bite” style, where all the flavors are combined and enjoyed in a single bite leaving a WOW experience.
Located on the historic Bund strip, walking in to “el Willy” gives you the chills of excitement. The restaurant is overlooking the amazing skyline of Shanghai which gives an almost electric energy. Style is casual & fun, wooden tables without table cloth and looking Sexy!
In Bangkok “el Willy Kitchen” is the first iteration of “el Willy” out of China. This new concept is Chef Willy’s more personal project to date. The open kitchen with surrounding bar seats creates a very playful atmosphere where Willy is at the center of the stage.
