As I stated in my previous answers, after the Covid-19, many people realized the necessity of a change of paradigm in the life style and business orientation and the need for a new philosophy is a trend. As a result, researches, studies and investigations are going on. But, the fact that, Victoria Subirana’s Method is successfully  implemented for 35 yeas, will be determinant to achieve the highest results and will increase dramatically.

We change country, we’re setting up the basis in a new environment, we are building and constructing the trust of people who don’t know our product well. But we are certain of a well demonstrated evidence of success that will help us to repeat the same model, learn from previous mistakes and go global.

We are a contemporary Spanish restaurant called Latirra. We offer an extensive selection of Spanish dishes with remarkable taste and style. We also have a beautiful outdoor area to cooperate any events with our partners and associates.

Passion, determination and success

We have started our first restaurant at the latter part of Covid era. Several times the booking were cancelled due to guests having covid. We complied with hygiene standard and regulations advised by the government. We put food safety and hygiene into our normal practice. 

The situation of climate change has dramatically affected people around the globe including restaurants and hospitality sectors. This can be involved in many businesses too. For our restaurant, we emphasize on zero waste from every resources for example the water, we stopped using plastic bottles and reuse the glass bottles. For waste management, we segregate the types of garbages so that they can still use certain things to recycle. The product we use is mainly from qualified and standard farm to be free range and friendly to environment. Everything costs us more, however, we still need to contribute our determination to make this world better.

It could be the deflation. I realize people tend to see the politics and economics stability that play a big role to set out a budget for entertaining, spending, starting new businesses. 

We will do our best effort to serve our customers and adjust ourselves to the market situation.

The prevailing digital habits and behaviours that emerged in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated the digitalization process of the environment in which financial institutions operate.

 

– Growing focus on customers: with consumers going more and more digital, customer satisfaction is becoming increasingly important while customer loyalty is diminishing.

– Entrance of new non-traditional competitors, such as Fintech and Bigtech digital platforms, with business models that leverage new technologies, raise service quality standards and increase pressure on the sector’s margins.

–  Access to data and the ability to generate value from data as an important source of competitive advantage: ability to design personalized products that generate greater value for the customer and that are more adapted to their needs.

–  Increase in the use and development of new technologies (such as Cloud, blockchain or generative AI)

 

Meanwhile, payment habits continue to change. Covid-19 accelerated the trend of decreasing use of cash as a means of payment in favour of electronic means of payment. Moreover, digital payment systems are evolving away from a model dominated almost exclusively by card systems (linked to bank deposits) towards a more mixed model in which Fintech and Big Tech also participate and offer alternative payment solutions supported by new technologies and devices.

 

On the other hand, Sustainability has become a relevant part of financial institutions strategy, due to:

Lastly, the macrofinancial context has changed significantly:

–  The change in European monetary policy due to high and persistent levels of inflation drove interest rates to positive territory and to higher levels than initially expected, after a prolonged period of ultra-low interest rates.

–  Banking sector activity has been conditioned by this tightening of monetary policy,

resulting in a notable contraction in credit volumes.

– Despite the increase in interest rates, credit quality has remained stable.

This year we are focused on designing and defining our Strategic Plan for the period 2025-2027 which will set our priorities and goals over the next 3 years. The plan will be unveiled in November 2024.

The decrease in reference interest rates since the end of 2023 and the

expectations that this process will continue in 2024 has favored a general increase in loans demand from households and NFC in the first months of 2024. 

 

New mortgage production recovers in early 2024 with the change in interest rate expectations (+5.6% yoy Jan-Mar). New lending for consumption increases favored by improvements of consumer confidence, exceeding pre-COVID-19 levels (+13.8% yoy Jan-Mar). And new lending to corporates grows both in loans under 1M€ and in larger ones (+5.3 yoy Jan-Mar). With data as of Mar'24 (latest available) the credit portfolio to the private sector continues to contract, -0.4% ytd (vs -0.8% ytd a month earlier), because the growth of new loans is still not enough to compensate for credit outflows. The minor contractions in housing (- 2.5% ytd vs -2.4% a month earlier) and non-financial corporations (-0.4% ytd vs – 1.2% a month earlier) stand out.

 

Customer funds increase 3.0% ytd in Mar'24 due to the increase in assets under management driven by the good performance of the markets and a relevant volume of subscriptions (+4.4% ytd; of which Investment Funds: +4.8% ytd and Pension Plans: +3.1% ytd), savings insurance (+1.3% ytd estimated), and the recovery of deposits (+2.8% ytd). This performance is due to the market conditions, which favours the transfer to savings products.

Albricias Restaurant is a Spanish Restaurant located in the Chatrium Residence Sathon. As the new Executive Chef, I oversee all the outlets but with a focus on creating an exciting Spanish dining experience at Albricias. The hotel itself, is more like a resort, than a hotel you would expect to find in Bangkok. Spacious rooms, a large free-form swimming pool and lush gardens and a large fully equipped Fitness Centre complete with personal trainers makes it perfect for a getaway staycation or business retreat.  

The hotel and restaurant business has fully recovered to business levels higher than prior to 2019.

While technology plays a bigger role in how we run a hotel and restaurant and how we communicate with our guests, it is still the personal, authentic caring style of service that people are looking for and makes them come back again and again.

We expect 2024 to be a one of the best years for the hotel. The biggest challenge is the labour market in Thailand, like in most countries around the world, especially in the service industries.

The truth is, I always had that little inner voice telling me that someday I would have to come and work in Asia, but I never thought it would be in Thailand. After the Covid-19 pandemic, observing how the world was operating from Europe, I said to myself, ‘I need to challenge myself on other continents, find a place where I can develop all my skills.’ And destiny brought me here. After a conversation with a friend, he explained to me about life in Thailand, and after that, I made the decision, despite family opinions. My intuition told me that this was the right place to live the best experience of my life. Today, I can confirm that it is, Thailand was the destination I was looking for.

Post-Covid, many toy companies, distributors and retailers are moving they production and sourcing outside of China. Which has benefited us being in Thailand.

We offer travel services in Thailand and other South East Asian countries for Spanish speaking travelers. Either FIT (couple, families, etc.), GIT (Groups) or MICE (Meetings, incentives and conferences).
During Covid we spent two years with zero revenue. After Covid, especially in mid-2022 we had a big rebound and last year we doubled our pre-covid revenue.

The balance we will have to find between allowing long-range travel while taking care of the environment. The whole industry will have to learn how to have less environmental impact and Thailand will have to better distribute tourists so as not to overcrowd destinations. Nobody wants to travel to an over-crowded place. 

How to keep up with demand. We weren’t expecting the growth we had.
Busy. We are happy the way 2024 is starting and it seems that we will grow again but only to the extent that it allows us to maintain a high quality service.
In 2009, as a 25 years old, I took a gap year around Asia traveling as a backpacker. During that trip, Bangkok and Shanghai seemed to me to be the cities that offered the most opportunities so I decided to try my luck in Bangkok and I found a part time job teaching Spanish. At the end of 2010 I started living in the city.

 Our main market target is a B2B business with more emphasize in the HORECA channel, so it is true that during COVID we suffer a decrease in sales. However, after COVID, we are starting to recover and reaching very good sales in the last year.

Bodegas Cepa 21 has recently start a new project with the main objective of positioning our brand as a top winery with an exclusive product. We have already a big name in the Spanish market, so now we want to face the export challenge by making our brand known in the international market.

I was looking for a professional challenge outside Europe and Thailand became the best opportunity not only to fulfill such challenge but also to gain an entrepreneurial experience.

We produce additives for the animal feed and human food industries (antioxidants, pigments, enzymes, antimoulds) and offer analytical services in our laboratory to evaluate them and help our customers to solve the challenges they might face at production and maintaining the shelf life.

Since animals and humans kept eating during COVID, this challenging time has not affected us as much as other industries. Is true that rocketing prices of logistics has been a big handicap.

The biggest impact for us will be the service of our laboratory with an international certification that will allow us to expand worldwide from the analytical services point of view.

The main challenge now are the high prices that we are experiencing due to inflation and we will have to adapt to the needs of the customers and navigate through this situation.

We will start the year with the opening of a production factory that will provide us more flexibility to supply our customers.

We decided to come to Thailand and create our own structure to become the headquarters of the Asia Pacific region. Bangkok is very well located with good communications and also holds one of the biggest fairs of our sector in the region.

Covid-19 totally changes our world. Our challenge during COVID-19 pandemic is supply management of commercialized products. We have to ensure that all patients can continue to receive their prescribed medications smoothly while Siam Bioscience had to take responsibility for Covid-19 vaccine manufacturing during that period. All of our commercialized products are essential medicines. Their demand were increased dramatically during Covid-19 Pandemic.

Moreover our company adapted its capability to serve healthcare need regarding to the pandemic especially during the early era of the pandemic. There was a medical supply shortage even a simple thing like 70% Alcohol (disinfectant). So we produced it and donated to the hospitals/clinics across country . We also collaborated with a government institute to develop COVITECT, the RT-PCR diagnostic kit to help our country in this crisis.

To us, Covid-19 pandemic is not over yet but life has to go on. We are preparing to launch new products.

We can’t stop change. Thus, we have to prepare ourselves to manage it. We are in the VUCA World, Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity. These will impact all industry. Proactive thinking, Growth mindset, Adaptation and Ability are fuel to build a winning culture.

Exeltis is the consumer business unit of the Spanish group Insud Pharma. We are a
pharmaceutical company focused in women’s health.

We develop, manufacture and commercialize products devoted to women’s health, in all stages of their life. We have our own R&D, manufacturing capacities and sales team. 

In Thailand we are one of the most respected companies in women’s health by consumers and clients, so this has put us in very good position to be strong despite the crisis.

Women’s health is a basic need in Thailand, and our ambition is to invest in this country to achieve the number 1 position in this market, and to improve the health of all the women in
Thailand.

On the one hand we strive to bring more products that are needed in Thailand, and on the other hand we need to maximize our current portfolio. Doing this in a harmonious way can be
challenging at times.

We are launching 2 new products this year, and we are already preparing the launches, and at the same time we are starting to implement all the tactical plans to make sure that we can serve the Thai population. It is quite hectic time right now.

I was working in Madrid at Insudpharma in regional role, and I wanted to have a more functional role in a country. 4 years ago I was offered the opportunity to come to Thailand to lead the Thai organization, and since them I am now heading the whole region.

Padel is one of the fastest growing sports in the world in terms of players and courts. In Asia the
sport is quite recent and our mision at Padel Asia is to develop Padel in Thailand and
make it as popular as it is worldwide.

Padel Asia is the one stop partner for any Padel need in Thailand. We bring all the material needed to practice the sport, we can build the courts, and of course we teach anybody to play padel or to improve their level. This year we want to start the Thai National championship.

On the one hand it has limited us because we had to stop our plans for the Thai national championships, but on the positive side we have experienced that a lot of people started to play padel as it is a way to be active while other places were closed.

Padel is becoming very popular in Asia. In Thailand we have increased the number of courts available, and also we have more than 3000 people that have played with us. We are pretty sure
that that we will increase the numbers of courts and people in the years to come. Padel is a sport that is easy at the beginning and is very addictive.

We need to manage our growth wisely, we are a very dynamic team, but also our time is limited, we need to prioritize to be sure that we can achieve our desired growth, and we are convinced that we will do it.

We are currently very active. We are building new courts , also we are talking to different stakeholders to find new Padel locations, and also we are starting to organize the Padel national championship.

I came to Thailand to work on the hospitality business, at the same time in Spain I was a semi-professional soccer player, this open me many doors to be involved in sports in Thailand, and Padel came natural , as is a sport that I am passionate about, and I believe will be a very popular sport in this country.
